Since the start of the internet the data usage has continued to increase from a mere 100Gb a day in 1992, to an estimated 20,235 GB per second in 2015. Today the total number of websites has surpassed 1 trillion, but with only 3.5 trillion users, we still send roughly 74.8 trillion emails – That works out to be every single internet user sending at least 21 emails a year (Doesn’t sound like much right?).
With the ever increasing amount of information online, that information has to be stored. Online data is generally stored in corporate or private server centres, but the amount of data they store is continually increasing. We’re currently working toward the ‘Yottabyte’ a storage size that equates to 1 trillion Terabytes. Find out more below!
